They learn how to do Soul Surges. It takes a few attempts but they get used to it. It's a tutorial level but it's presented well enough that they eventually get it.

Ross and Arin meet Misty and talk about their childhood crushes on her! Woooo! I remember Misty's Song on the Pokémon 2.B.A. Master album. It was lovely :) Ross gives her a voice that sounds a bit like Mickey Mouse in drag. Brendan he gives a squeaky-voiced teenager type of voice.

Arin and Danny beat Ganondorf and begin the Metroidesque escape sequence. Zelda dialogue is back too! Yay! The "Now I can collect insurance!" line is pretty good! The weird crab is here too!
I like that idea of the Stalfos being like "Thanks man!" like Link did him a solid or something!
I love Zelda's sideline commentary and hype about everything other than the battle at hand :)

Now that I think of it... fighting Ganon reminds me of fighting King Bob-omb in Super Mario 64 and the way he spins really fast immediately after you attack him. You have to let him walk for a moment before he spins slowly again.
Wow... they did the whole Ganondorf battle again off-screen so they could go back outside to collect fairies? Oh man... I don't have the heart to tell them you can just get fairies from the rubble during the Ganon battle like you can with the Iron Knuckles and hearts... Sorry lads if ye're reading this...
So, the epilogue plays through and it's just us enjoying it with the Grumps :) it's quite lovely and things are quiet and it's like we're all saying good night to each other. This was a great series :)

SONIC AND THE BLACK KNIGHT PART 2 - KNAVE THE HEDGEHOG

Barry appears before the video to talk about his new show "How About This Game?" on GrumpOut. I quite enjoyed the Skyward Sword episode! He then looks at his watch-less wrist.
Arin and Danny are still recovering from the awesome debut of this series! They play on and defeat the mist dragon. In the spoils they get a doughnut and it's spelled "doughnut"! Nice :)
Wonderful cheesiness in the cutscenes including Sonic calling Caliburn an "oversized letter-opener" when he calls him "Knave The Hedgehog". I always loved that line!

Quite eventful with the book turning into a humanoid character and facing the Red Lady in a battle with the weird camera angles and stuff.

OMG OMG THEY'RE ACTUALLY PLAYING THIS! This is so awesome!! I can just picture them having a ball with this and talking about the music and the cutscenes... Oh please don't skip the cutscenes guys! They're fantastic! I love this game :)
Arin and Danny are diving into this head first! Neither of them have played it before. I'm dying to see how it goes for them!
Maybe it's a Monty Python And The Holy Grail horse, like with the coconut shells and everything :P
Well... I wasn't wrong. They picked it up and just started laughing :)
Will they have a good time? A terrible time? The latter is unlikely, but in any case, I am GLUED to this playthrough! Good luck guys! :D

Just looked up that Leonardo DiCaprio Nickelodeon award thing. Pretty cool :)
They talk about ice skating and cold weather. Ross has seen very little of it! From Australia to Los Angeles? He must have experienced cold another time when he visited relatives here in Ireland or something.
Matthew Mercer's his friend? Cool... I saw him at a convention a few months ago. Didn't know who he was before that, but now I see his name in several places like voice credits... etc.
They then talk about seeing live bands.
So yeah those rails seem difficult to catch when you're trying to get up on them.
I like that freestyle beatbox rap at the end :)

Arin and Danny do a funny thing where they say mean things and then end the sentence on a nice thing.
It's cute the way Danny doesn't immediately know that the Pokémon game they played comes on a cartridge. I'm looking forward to seeing them play that again someday and it's great that they have a friend who's grinding levels for them. She's very kind :)
Wow, Danny eats almost no meat besides chicken and turkey etc...? I don't go near those meats! I love pork, beef, venison etc though. Never had rabbit.
They're making good progress and they just dispelled the barrier and they are now climbing the tower. It won't be long now for this playthrough... sadly. I'm really enjoying it.

That "Got a light?" guy is indeed the maker of days :)
They go on to The Last Bounty Hunter. Wow, the player must feel awesome when that army officer points at them and say they're the best bounty hunter. I would not like to be in that situation for real though!
What the heck is with that disappearing horse?!
Oh there are so many laughs from that campsite scene! That poor guy they shoot more than once too. Also, what did that outhouse guy eat?!

I have something in common in the fact that I didn't care that much about music until the late 90s. Jet Set Radio and Gorillaz I loved back then too!
Ah music and animation... I love both too! Both are extremely important in video games as well. All these passions come together nicely too. Formal education can be really unhelpful alright.

HOW ABOUT SKYWARD SWORD'S SKY?

Whoa, what's this? Is "How About This Game?" a new show? Sounds like a cool idea. In any case it's on GrumpOut and Barry's doing this one on Zelda Skyward Sword.
Staminaaaaaagh! I like that line :)
Barry does this sweet video essay about Skyward Sword's sky. I love that bit about the particle effects. That would be nice and cartoony to see Link have a cloudy Santa beard for a moment! Otherwise, yes I can just imagine the cloudy poofiness as you fly through them and how cool a sensory experience like that would be. Barry expresses this very well :)
And yes, blue skies in games are very important too, as we know from the UKResistance campaign. He makes some good points about it.
I love the live action skit thing with Brian and Audrey and the "PLAYER" sign. Fun stuff :)

MAD DOG MCCREE PART 1 - HELLO AGAIN MORTICIAN

In the draw sequence, I wonder if you can just cover the Wii Remote's pointer with your hand instead of moving the cursor away? It's an old trick us Wii veterans picked up :)
All in all, it's a laugh filled episode! I'm so glad Danny begged to do another one! But hey, there are other games on the compilation too!

Then they notice something strange happen in the real world offline and got freaked out. Some stuff happened on the website then and it was spooky enough for the main character to not visit the website again.

Jon and his friend Ethan decide to sign up for Kung Fu training. What an unusual thing for Jon to do! No video games in here at all but there's a ton of situational comedic stuff and it makes for a fun video!
Not the painful receiving ends of the Kung Fu attacks though... those aren't so funny! Yeesh!
At the end they do an ad skit for Crunchyroll, which is pretty cool.

Arin and Danny have another laugh filled mad dash. Then it's moving statues or red light green light! I like the way Danny's baby kicks the dirt when he loses and grumbles to himself.
Next is a giant jigsaw puzzle and the sounds they make are bizzare!

Another round of the really long dancing game and Danny wins it this time.

WOW! What an amazing cartoon! It's inspired by Ross and Brian's playthrough of the astounding and original "Who's Your Daddy" game, where the daddy player has to stop the baby player from killing itself.
First of all, Brian's character is incredible. He's like an antagonistic Baby Herman type, five o'clock shadow and everything. Ross as the antagonised daddy, which is a kind of a situation flip for his usual known character, completes the cat and mouse situation! Speaking of which, yes, this is miles better than any of the Tom & Jerry cartoons where they have to save a baby from killing itself.
The other grumps are depicted here briefly. Stay 'til the very end!
I love the opening where they're coming out of the Looney Tunes style circles too.
Actually, there are so many references and gags to other stuff like Burgie, Gameoverse, the Chris Pratt watermelon, Channing Tatums, Elevator Action, stuff spelled out in letter fridge magnets, inside fan-jokes like the Twitter prom thing between restaurant franchises etc that you'd have to watch this cartoon several times to catch all of them. It's one of those cartoons that keeps on giving and I absolutely adore this. Well done!

The next minigame is like Hungry Hungry Hippos, but it's about making ripples in the water to make toys come to you. It's gas :)
The wolf costume jokes they come up with are hilarious too!

Yeah that's how visual novels go sometimes. Sometimes there's a big text box that reveals a paragraph at a time and forms into a big wall of text that doesn't feel particularly welcoming.
Arin gives the protagonist, whom they call Shdiflurind, a beach bum kind of voice and Ross gives the Guide his old man voice.
Next thing, a Gary Oak rival type of character shows up and Ross gives him the snide rival voice.
Arin and Ross make a bet on a visual novel trope and it's pretty funny!

Danny gets the most kisses and unlock what looks like a Xena Warrior Princess costume for the babies. Silly stuff!

Also, they both get the exact same score in what feels like the longest dancing minigame ever! 23,900 points!

When a car drags them out of the level they decide to go for another one instead. They're having the same trouble I had with the game with all the police ganging up at once!
They discuss anime for a bit. I never got into One Piece but I love One Punch Man and Dragon Ball!
That was really cool when they spray the helicopter in mid-air and then land on the steel rail just above the water.
Yeah the "V" sign is offensive over here and I'm surprised sometimes when I see foreigners do it so easily. I once saw Shigeru Miyamoto do it to Arino from Game Center CX. I know that it doesn't have the same meaning though!
I'd love to see that switcheroo thing happening with Ross on Markiplier's channel! Better wait until his voice recovers though!

Yeah the red lady looks a bit like a Red Mage. The main character does look like a Tetsuya Nomura designed character alright with the hair and clothes.
Gosh, that barrier looks like something out of Bayonetta.
Where did this game come from? It looks kinda basic and rough but at the same time looks like it has a decent amount of quality to it. Is it an indie title?
Suzy's using a keyboard but kind of decides near the end to see if she can use a controller instead. I think I would too for a 3D action game like this!

Arin and Danny have the first Game Grumps VS in a long time! The thumbnail has them making crazy faces.
Hmm... I gotta say the boxart makes it look like it's some kind of baby care simulation but nope! It's all arcade mini games to compete for being the king or queen of toddlers!
This playthrough certainly isn't for kids! The competition gets intense and lots of bad words are used. Eek!
Love the "Winner School" thing at the end!

Arin appears before the video to offer a heads up about the audio quality in this episode. Fans on Twitter wanted to see it anyway so he put it up for us anyway. Very considerate of him! What's that live action video in the background?
The audio is out of balance alright but Danny can still be heard it's still quite listenable and enjoyable :) In a way, he sounds like he's in an adjacent kitchen reading recipes for the ultimate Grump snack!
Arin and him play this puzzley game that controls kinda like the Kirby line drawing games.

Ahem... Suzy reads out a story that involves science fiction, time travel and a lot of food for thought. Lots of mind boggling stuff here read in a sweet soft voice from speaker to speaker. If you can imagine an ASMR Twilight Zone... that may be as good a comparison as I can make to describe experiencing this!
I tried listening to this on a Wii U Game Pad with its amazing speakers instead of headphones and it is quite nice. They do give the surround sound effect. I do agree that headphones are more personal and intimate, but this kind of brings it somewhere in between them and regular speakers.

An insane rival motorcyclist from the competition thing shows up and is just as much of a jerk as some of the other characters they've met in the game.
They get on a motorbike and drive around the plaza, mowing down loads of other zombies, having a bunch of fun :)

DEAD RISING 2 PART 6 - DURRR TED ZOMBIE LIKE TV

Arin and Danny hang out with Rebecca for a while before they have to go back They stop at a casino along the way. Back at the shelter thingy Ted Zombie has a problem with them but they explain a few things. Rebecca shows up too and it seems everyone hates her. Trust issues all around.
They have a lovely "I was just gonna say that!" moment that wraps up the episode beautifully!

They're almost late for their first day at work but they make it. Lots of other people are here too this time. Arin gives Reese a high pitched rapper's voice. Suzy gives Finley a soft diva voice or a socialite voice? I dunno how you'd describe it. Mason has a tough deadpan girl persona also voiced by Suzy. Finley has nice hair :)
They all seem lovely and they all have breakfast together there. They even insist that breakfast is here from now on. It's like walking into a dream :)

DEAD RISING 2 PART 5 - REBECCA THE REPORTER

Arin and Danny put on some funny foreign accents for a few fun opening moments :)

They meet Hayes as well and Arin gives him an awesome Igor voice! I kinda wish he stuck with it instead of going to the nervous nerd Dr. Alphys voice.

DEAD RISING 2 PART 3 - WHEN'S IT GONNA BE TIME FOR MEDICINE URRGHH

Arin and Danny meet Sheik at the Temple of Time. I always thought it was kinda weird when you warped there just before meeting him, but then the cut scene has you walking inside instead of warping there. Arin gives him the Christian Bale Batman voice.
The voice then shifts to other weird masculine narrative voices. He sounds a bit like David Hayter Snake at one stage!
When Zelda is revealed it's a big surprise for Danny! It's lovely to see his reaction to it and the fun continues with more of Zelda's voice speaking. I love the way Arin was trying to keep it under wraps and sometimes almost slipping. That was fun!
Sheik was a "she" in Hyrule Warriors. I wish they kept him as a "he" because I like the disguise.
Arin appears in a live action skit telling us to exercise at least once a day to be happy. He gives some examples and the words come out of his mouth and up on the screen. He also gives the bat a kiss. D'aw!
Arin and Danny meet Sheik at the Temple of Time. I always thought it was kinda weird when you warped there just before meeting him, but then the cut scene has you walking inside instead of warping there. Arin gives him the Christian Bale Batman voice.
The voice then shifts to other weird masculine narrative voices. He sounds a bit like David Hayter Snake at one stage!

DEAD RISING 2 PART 2 - DILUTING THE LOOTERS

Arin and Danny wallop some zombies with a bat, an axe and a mannequin man while singing "It's Raining Men".
There's a golfing minigame here too.
They meet some looters and make minced meat out of them. Gore gore gore... They were jerks though.
Gotta get the Zombrex for Katey too. This kinda reminds me of Pandora's Tower where you had to feed beast flesh to the girl so she wouldn't turn into a monster.

DEAD RISING 2 PART 1 - TED ZOMBIE

Arin and Danny as roboboop begin what may be another very long series! Their playthrough of the first Dead Rising went on for 46 episodes, so let's see how far this one will go!
The zombie killing starts as a gameshow type thing with bikes and ramps. This is a pretty good idea. Soon though, it goes to the traditional clunky combat from the last game. Arin and Danny's commentary will help me get through this survival horror.

I love the voices they give the... creatures, especially Persephone!
It's gas the way they woop at the idea of the dino protagonist getting some dino tail. I like the way they speculate all kinds of dark stuff happening at the late night library meeting too!

They're still learning a bit about Farore's Wind. They're severely understocked with hearts and magic. No replenishing items either. It's quite tough.
I love the mechanics of this battle and I remember the player's guide I used when this game came out saying "if you can manage this you are very good at games!". It's quite easy to do, but they often go into awkward positions.

Yay! Another ASMR video! Headphone time! I got some new over-ear headphones recently so I'm gonna use them now!
Suzy's quite good at this. Her voice kind of quivers and it's very sweet.
The story itself is about three boys who go to a funfair and one of them is told how he will die. It sounds a bit like Goosebumps and I can visualise the streetlights in the dark as the boys make their way home. I also like the way they hang out together at home and play Mario Kart!

SMASH BROS BLUE SHELL SONIC HELL - MAKING SMASH FUN

Barry and Ross do a challenge match in Smash Bros. For Wii U playing as Sonic and super small, super fast. They also implement blue shells and it actually makes the game look really fun and interesting!
It's really hard for them to hit each other because they move so fast. I love the way Sonic speaks in a high pitched squeaky voice because he's small too :)

In the last two minutes and after extensive testing, they list out the rules of this game for anyone to try out!

Ah the Link Between Worlds playthrough! So wonderful. This was a brilliant dialogue with Princess Zelda and I especially love the part where she smacks Impa and says "I'm sorry are you the Princess? Nah I don't think so!"
The drawing in this one is absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE Danny's expressions in this one the best! I also love the way Arin turns into all these Zelda partners! Nice picture of Mouser too as the dead rat!
It was a very nice idea to have Arin as Ezlo do Pingu's NOOT NOOT too!

They talk about the TV news report they had recently and how it came about. Interesting story! I watched that report too by the way and it was really awesome!
It's amazing how there were no arrow refills for ages... I actually never bought arrows in this game before.

I'd rather just think of katsu from the lunch with the parents! I don't like chicken but I love sweet potato katsu. I'd love to try pork katsu.

DARK SOULS III PART 60 - IN LOVING MEMORY OF STABBY MCTACO

SMASH BROS GANONDORF CHALLENGE PART 2 - LEADERS OF THE BUNCH

They talk about a game called Stratego. I never played it myself.
They come across those floaty things again that mimic their movements. Danny makes the connection that I never would've made in a million years! That they're like the light green and red things in Link To The Past that follow your movements! (Or the Shy Guys in Link's Awakening) So yeah, they're this game's equivalent! Learning new stuff every day about this legendary game! Thanks Grumps! :)
Also, the strategy that Arin uses is new to me too. I never knew why the block of time could be summoned or why the room is laid out like it is. I always just used Din's Fire or a Fire Arrow to take out these enemies!

DARK SOULS III PART 59 - WATCHING/PLAYING UNCHARTED 4

Arin and Danny start by dealing with enchanted fighters and they gotta flee!
Later on, they discuss the Uncharted series of games and Arin's issue of cinematics and gameplay. So you climb things just by walking up to them? I've heard the exact same about Assassin's Creed. I haven't played either series though.
At one point they get disconnected from Steam and can't continue! Yikes... it's that DRM thing in full swing again...
I guess I'd watch someone play the Uncharted games like Danny did with watching Barry play Uncharted 4.

DARK SOULS III PART 58 - DEAD DRAGON HEAD

Arin and Danny take on this really difficult area with loads of enemies. Danny talks about the dragons in Game Of Thrones having fire glands or tubes and how it's kinda cool.
It's funny to see them clip through the dead dragon's head!
The enemies are quite weak but there were so many of them they were difficult to handle. Not many now so Arin's able to tear through them!
I never heard of that one hit wonder 90s band...

Arin and Danny face an Iron Knuckle! It's funny at the start when Arin teases Danny about herpes jokes! Poor guy! They eventually defeat the Iron Knuckle with bombs.
After the scene with Nabooru, Danny reminisces on the long journey of this game. It is nice and long! 71 episodes and counting too! It's something else :) I remember how happy I was that they were starting it!

DARK SOULS III PART 57 - TWO COOL DRAGONS

Arin and Danny come across amazing dragons. They avoid it and take on loads of other smaller enemies.
They got killed by this beam of light or something. Kinda jump scary when it suddenly happens.
I never really watched He-Man either. They do good impressions of Skeletor but Ross is the best at it :)

The one and only Nathan Barnatt is on Grumpcade today! He and Arin play some WWF WrestleMania for the SNES. Lots of wooping and excitement going on between them.
Some crazy moves in this game, especially that rug shaking move! That was pretty nuts.
It is pretty cool that the wrestlers have logos. I never knew they had them.

DARK SOULS III PART 56 - BIG AXE SKELETON

Arin and Danny face some really tough knights. They come outside and see some awesome scenery. They get killed by a skeleton with a gigantic axe. It really comes out of nowhere!
Danny says how Barry got his butt handed to him by an optional boss that Arin hasn't faced yet. It's fun when friends play a game and you catch up with them and talk about how far they are and everything.

Barry and Ross both play as the Villager and do this battle of wits thing where they have to react to tree throwing by grabbing or get hit.
They tell funny stories like how Ross saw a snake one time and I like the way the character is scratching his face while Ross thinks about something. Nicely synchronised!

Yeah I remember Danny at the end of 2014... he was so exhausted at that point and you could see it in Guild Grumps. Glad he's been good since :)

They arrange a time for Danny to eat Arin's eggs. Such a nice thing :)
They talk about what it would be like to fart out your penis. I quess it would be called a "pweef", 'cos it's like the male version of a queef right?
That improv rap they come up with where Arin struggles to make words rhyme is brilliant! Would make a great cartoon :) also a great Disney song!

Arin and Suzy take on the hottest recent game! Suzy's got the cute calm kitty face and Arin's got the Grump face in the thumbnail. Arin gives Suzy the tour as she doesn't know anything yet. Useful for me too! I have no idea what this game is like yet either!

It's a competitive FPS with levels and classes. Kinda neat. Kinda like Team Fortress 2( I think. I haven't played that game either. Luckily, they compare and contrast the two games)

DARK SOULS III PART 54 - CALCULATORS FOR DAYS

Arin appears before the video in another new skit! He salutes the troops!
Arin and Danny face the tough boss again with some help and endure all the raining spikey things. They defeat it though :) hooray!
They have a duel with Jubilee but she does healing stuff. In the middle of it, they accidentally minimise the window due to the Calculator button being pressed! Miraculously, that doesn't kill them but they eventually lose the duel. Then Danny makes more Calculator sessions! My keyboard has one of those buttons too :)
Arin says he'd get drunk for charity. Don't do it Arin! I don't drink so I wouldn't be into it! I bet Ross would love Arin as a drinking buddy though.
The next boss is all long and lanky like the dress up boss from Dynamite Headdy. They'll have better luck next time hopefully!

Ross talks about how it feels to be uploading stuff everyday instead of every few months when he was animating on his channel. I'm not uploading video but I do upload blog posts every day and it's fun! It can be time consuming too though!

No arrows left so they resort to using the Longshot to freeze the Gerudos before swishing the sword at them.
They eventually rescue all the carpenters and Danny is bewildered at how they make them an honorary member in response! Things are barrelling along!
