Barry and Jirard The Completionist get together to talk about the official Metroid 2 remake for 3DS. They talk about the series in general too.
Jirard never played the original Metroid 2, but he has played AM2R and this new one. That's the complete opposite to me... out of all those I only played the original Metroid 2 :P
Hm... my favourite Metroid games are the original Metroids 1 and 2. They prefer the later ones and remakes.
If I were to remake Metroid 1 and 2, it would be the exact same games except with a map on the other screen! (if it was on a DS for example)
They talk about Paper Mario and supporting franchises for a bit.
Jirard has praise for the game's basic premise about hunting Metroids and accessing new areas :) he and Barry said it felt fresh! The original Metroid 2 is this exact same idea :)
They're critical of the controls and playing the 3DS in general.
Oof... Smash Bros 3DS is the cause of so many broken Circle Pads? That makes me queasy :(
In general they want more options and customisations for controls :)
They talk about where they got stuck too like with the red crystals. This is pretty fascinating :)
The ice beam is the best way to deal with Metroids alright :)
Barry talks about someone who played Metroid 2 original who told him about tonal changes. I do love how the original is its own thing and has its own atmosphere that's completely different to the rest of the series.
Barry recalls his earlier worried tweets about the cinematics in this game :) I had similar worries!
They then go into talking about Metroidvanias in general.
