EARTHBOUND PART 14 - DICK ANDONUTS

Barry and Ross wander around Threed for the first time. Even though it was for a day, you do notice a gap in EarthBound episodes... and even if you're marathoning episodes, the gap makes it so that there are so many extra other videos between episodes to watch... First world dilemma! :P
Omg that edit of Mr Wilson when they get surrounded! Very nicely done :D
Pallf's voice is back and it's time to contact Jeff, who they've named Dick in this playthrough. Giggleworthy at every mention!
Now they're playing as Dick and his friend Tony. Different characters, different perspective and they have to meet with the others to rescue them. Ross is quite charmed by this! It is pretty clever alright :) Mother 3 has a thing like this too and of course, Dragon Quest IV was likely the main inspiration and is an excellent example of it in practice too!

Back on the road trip and they impress Emily with their W turns! Those bees are still around and in the car.

That car wash was the best thing in the game so far alright :)

GRUMP'S DREAM COURSE PART 15 - WATER SWITCHING

There are so many brilliant jokes and one liners in this episode and poor Ross rages a lot!
I checked out that yesyesyesno subreddit and it's a pretty good concept :)
Barry even has a few goes near the end. Pretty aggravating game I'd say! You'd think it'd be fun like a train level but no it's one of those extreme skill difficulty games. Complete with score table cheaters :(
Still, as a concept it is attractive at least, and jumping from truck to truck is probably something you'd dream of while stuck in traffic.

Suzy was asked to play this game. She was a big Naruto fan growing up she says... I remember when Naruto was new as well but I was already grown up... Hm.... :/ Ah well. I never watched it myself though.
This looks like a standard online browser or PC game, but a whole lot prettier and more colourful than the standard one. It's got the Diablo perspective and you interact and battle with characters from the anime.
She seems to enjoy it anyway and the game seems like a good fan thing to enjoy if you are a fan.

GRUMP'S DREAM COURSE PART 14 - A SMELLY ROOM TO SIT IN

Arin and Danny do some whispery beat bopping. The springy pads on opposing slopes look like they'll make them bounce forever...
Arin talks about a show idea he had years ago called "Hard Mode".
Aw! That shot Arin took would've been something amazing if he sunk it! Using the bouncy pads too would've brought an amazing feeling if he pulled it off... I think we all wanted it to happen...
Danny's back to getting 5s.

Barry and Ross did some more levelling :/ ah well. I guess it's true the dungeons aren't that interesting, but when dungeons are like mazes and there are random encounters all the time it can be very disorienting.

They face Mondo Mole and defeat it handily enough. The amount of buffs it was doing was getting kinda scary though.
No problem I can explain! Lilliput is the name of the land in Gulliver's Travels that had all the tiny people.
Aw the Mighty Bear looks too nice to be an enemy :) then again, I guess bears in real life can be cute too. They give it a nice friendly voice :)
They backtrack to Twoson and go to the Runaway Five show. Barry does the show business dialogue stuff really well :)

Wow, the main character has a beard now.
Hmm... this scene with the red leaf filled floor and trees all around with some doors reminds me of the hub in NiGHTS Journey Of Dreams.

Yeesh... the hotel is full of bees.

They decide to do the next dungeon on the next episode. Last time I played this game I actually forgot about this dungeon until near the end of the game...
They head back to Twoson and to the Chaos Theatre. They talk about references to Smash Bros and about Mother 3 a little bit... Yeah I'd like to see Mother 3 get released over here too alright...

They go to the diner. It's a cosy looking place :) but why sit at different booths? One seems big enough for all four of the characters.

Later on the main character is talking to himself or Zach, piecing together the case while in bed. This game is getting thick and boggy with questions.

Hm... I will straight up tell people I don't drink. I don't care if it's cool or not.
Very entertaining exchange where Arin's trying to remember Biscoffs. I've never heard of that brand before now. I looked up the "OMG BISCOFF SPREAD" video and it's brilliant :) what crazy teeth those puppets have! Their psychological montage thing is clever too.

Barry and Ross do a nighttime radio interview where Barry as the guest talks about the creepy shack in the woods, which can be seen from the cliff they're standing on in the game.
They come across the village and many insane cultists, some hostile and some that they just fight like any other enemy in the game.
I didn't know Shovel Knight was reverse localised for the Japanese release! That's pretty funny :) they should make that available here in the form of a "romhack".
They ring their mom and Ross' East European/Russian accent comes back!
They can now call the Escargo Express courier and they observe how he has a pinkish mustache, so he's immediately given a Markiplier voice! It's Escargiplier :)
Yes that's right, the cult is all about Eiffel 65!
Ross gives Pallf a voice that's very much like Meowth after being blasted off again at the end of a Pokémon episode. Pokey then shows up! Grr!

LOVE US, WENDY'S! - GRUMPOUT

GRUMP'S DREAM COURSE PART 10 - PREDETERMINED

Arin and Danny appear before the video for another Game Grumps Live! promo! Danny puts up his hair and calls himself a naughty cockatiel and everything! That's a funny bit at the end where Danny reveals a secret that's not real. Hahaha.

POKÉMON ART ACADEMY GALLERY - GRUMPOUT

Yes! It's the brilliant gallery exhibition where they took the gag about Suzy being the artist to a whole new level! Suzy's the flamboyant artist, Barry and Ross(psst the real artists) are just waiters, Arin's the eccentric billionaire... what a great idea! I saw a version of this on Holly's channel but I didn't see Brian as the famous art critic work his magic like he's doing here.
Barry's brother Alex appears too and it's fun trying to see him interact with his brother while he's in character! There's Jack looking dapper and offering his own classy analysis. I'm pretty certain that's Chris being a jerk and Vernon and Brent make an appearance too.
Such a great idea for a live event and they pulled it off so well. I love these guys :)

Danny gives a shout-out to a comic called Steve Lichman by Dave Rapoza and Dan Warren. I know the monster "Lich" from games like Final Fantasy and Mystic Quest/Final Fantasy Adventure. I paused the video to check it out and there's a preview for the comic. I read the whole 60 page preview and it is freaking amazing :) such a clever idea! Thanks for the recommendation Danny!

It's about them talking about sending messages via bird in the days before AOL, or via pterodactyl as Ross mocks about Danny's age! Very nice Ninja Sex Party reference with the "Peppermint Creams" namedrop written on the letter.
Ross jokes about giving the bird a gun but then the bird turns the gun on them! Yikes!

The drive is suddenly livened up when they strike some zombies with the car. Yay! Fun!

Arin and Danny are back on course! I didn't notice the Waddle Dees were altered to look like monkeys! I always loved the way Danny made Arin annoyed by calling them monkeys whenever they play Kirby games!
Arin has a pro tip, pressing A when rolling or bouncing. He's so upset with the idea of losing that he mixes up Huckleberry Finn with Oliver Twist!
Lol, "virutal tie".
That shot into the hole is a pretty difficult one to get and so risky too! They both miss it so many times and it makes for a long episode as it makes them scramble for stars too!

SUPER MARIO MAKER PART 132 - V. COOL STAGES

Arin and Danny continue the incredible "Super Mario Vs Mecha Bowzilla" by Kiavik.
They talk about how banks that deal with business stuff say their names weird. "Ninja Sex Party Incorporated" sounds like a laugh!
After a few attempts they beat Bowser Jr.! Arin's right, this truly was an amazing stage. Pity he didn't star it though!
They move on to "V" by もとせいねん.
Ah! That V platform pattern looks like it's being held up by a Monty Mole because they move like that. Another very clever stage with excellent use of clues :)

They beat them easily enough and Ross struggles with his voice. But yeah, wow I didn't know Frank heals you!

Yeah it is kinda weird how Hillary Clinton appears as the mayor's receptionist. Things have changed a lot since 199X.
Ross gives the mayor his awesome old man voice.

They restore more coral from the evil triangles, returning the ocean to something even more beautiful, like an underwater Okami.
The squid sounded like some kind of bad thing was gonna happen, but it was a false alarm.

KATAMARI FOREVER PART 30 - CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSE

They do much better at this one and pass this heat challenge! Woo!
It is kinda weird how Shy Guys are Mario canon, yet Mario dreamed them up. Then again... if you wanna be all chronological; when Mario was a baby on Yoshi's back, there were Shy Guys all over the place... on stilts even!
They talk about actively listening to music. That is, sitting down with headphones and doing nothing else besides listening, instead of having it in the background while doing something else. I always like this kind of thing. Further discussion about how we're all multitaskey would get you thinking about simplification.
Danny in particular reflects on how right now is a really exciting time in their lives and maybe sometimes they try to do too much at once. I remember how exhausted he was during Super Mario Galaxy alright...
Again, this kind of discussion is going on while Arin is rolling up the whole world, land masses and all. I love this show.
So yeah, Japanese lore has a catfish carrying the world, or at least Japan and Hindu lore has a big ol' turtle carrying the world. Arin imagines him wearing an astronaut helmet and being named "Carl" :3

After rolling up the world, they zoom off into space! Space, gathering stars and dust and bits of meteors and stuff on the rings of planets and everything! Makes them all sparkly and awesome looking! The rumble feature is going nuts in the controller too!

Nice little cutscene follows. Almost at the end of the game!

It's widely believed though that you don't need to level grind after defeating the Sharks. I say you don't need to grind in this game full stop! I stand firm on that!
Ross talks about Bravely Default having the option to switch off all random encounters but then the boss would wipe you out. Ah well. Still a nice option though instead of doing stuff like... I dunno, repel spells.
At level 7, snakes now run away from them! That's the way it goes in this game and it's pretty cool :)

Wow cool, I love how fish friends can be gathered by doing the NiGHTS style twirl :)
Really cool chamber too where the fish friends swirl around like in a whirlpool. Barry then makes a real whirlpool by activating some kind of switch and they go back to the nautilus chamber. They meet the sharkfriend spirit. Suzy says he's so cute. Sharks cute? Yeesh!
Together with sharkfriend they go into an area where it looks like a watery heaven paradise! Suzy is all questions and I love the way Barry teases with stuff like "...is it?". It drives her nuts :) all through the series it's like this!

SUPER MARIO MAKER PART 131 - MULTI-STAGE KAIJU

Arin and Danny move on to "Super Mario Vs Mecha Bowzilla" by Kiavik. They say it's a pretty popular one.
Wow that Mecha Bowzilla looks amazing! What a spectacle and you can hardly take your eyes off of it. The "legs" seem to mold to the way it's stepping so it looks kinda realistic! It inspires Danny to talk about Godzilla movies.
Ohhhh cool! It takes place inside Mecha Bowzilla after the pipe!
And then... alarms and...
Whoa, back out and it starts flying with jets!
Back in to smash another piece of it and then back out and back in again for the ultimate battle...
Yikes. The alarm sounds cool for a bout two seconds and the shaky screen effect here with the Thwomps is evil :( more on it next time...!

I always have great praise for the way money is earned in this game. It's stored safely in the bank account and doesn't half when you get defeated. It just stays in there.
Lots more voices to do here. Lots of funny characters they come up with as well.
Barry's gonna level up? Noooo! Don't grind in this game! EarthBound's not for grinding :(

Ah cool, Arin's going to Japan again and Danny's going to Scotland with his mom. That's pretty cool :)

Hehe, Ross gives the crow a voice like the ones in Dumbo or the Kia-Ora crows :)
Ross is super creeped out by Lier X. Agerate's behaviour. You know, I never pieced it together like that myself when I played this game...
Ross is more and more charmed with this game as Barry tells him about status effects, like the one about homesickness.
The engaging and winning is already happening now with the snakes too. Yay! :)
I like the 20's gangster voices they give the clubhouse kids!

Wow... Arin returned to Griddles :) and it was his cheat day! I guess he'd be driven towards it.
I remember laughing so much the first time I saw the title of "Hop On Pop".

Very nice autoplaying stage where they play as Pichu and the music blocks play the Pokémon Center theme and at the very end, the Pokémon healed theme. Very cute :)

Arin and Danny open with some Spice Girls lyrics and memories about 90s pop music. I love the Spice Girls and... I actually loved where music went in the late 90s. It was brilliant! I loved Livin' La Vida Loca :) great song! I think it's very sad about Kurt Kobain though of course. I never got into grunge music. I was just too young I'd say.
More stuff about American fast food chains I know nothing about... Interesting diarrhoea statistics though!

YES! YES! Barry and Ross are finally playing EarthBound and this episode is on Undertale's first anniversary too!
Poor Ross. EarthBound and many other SNES rpgs didn't come out here or in Australia in the 90s.
Lots of fun naming the characters here and Holly and Dan's names come up in the built in names. Poo is a fun enough name so they leave that as it is. Other fun names in here include Splot for Ness, Pallf for Paula, Dick for Jeff, Doggo for the dog, penis for favourite food and Ross as the coolest thing. That's gonna be interesting later in the playthrough!
Do they say "Doggo" instead of "Doggie" in Australia? Just curious.
Barry's a big fan of EarthBound and is very enthusiastic about this playthrough! I think he'll make it a good series with Ross too of course. He is the coolest thing in their savegame after all!
Oh I get it now, Eagleland is called so because of the American eagle. Didn't really cop that before.
Oh man... the voices. Ross comes up with some doozy ones, like the East European one for the mom and the not-very-healthy sounding Doggo. The police all have great voices!

This cartoon was inspired by the time Arin and Danny talked about drawing during the Super Mario Galaxy playthrough and Arin had that distinctive "drawin' Mozart" line!
Arin's dressed as Mario, complete with lovely matching facial hair and Danny's dressed as Luigi. They're drawn nicely here with nice cute eyed designs and friendly expressive faces.
They're hanging out on this ball planet talking about drawing and it was where Arin kept getting his trail messed up in the game, but it was made to look like Arin was getting his sky constellation drawings messed up. Lots of Game Grumps inside jokes drawn in the sky here! Nice appearance by the Luma here too.

Oh wow. Another great idea where you play the stage offscreen but there's a copy of the level itself onscreen you can use as a guide! Brilliant idea altogether :)
After completion, they move on to "Mario's Amusing Coin Hunt" by Carlos. Looks lovely from the thumbnail, like it's Pac-Land or something.
Love the funfair theme for this level :)

Some figures appear as if in a dream sequence or something of a dad and his daughter in a tug of war. They do their voices and have the dad be angry that his daughter is making fun of his pink shirt. Maybe it got mixed in the laundry with the girl's red outfit like in the Simpsons :)

Arin and Danny give a shout out to Kevin, who has moved on from Game Grumps to do other things. He wants to cut move trailers and I hope he gets to do it, because there is definitely room for improvement in the movie trailers that are coming out lately! But yeah... I was wondering about Kevin and I'll miss him.
Matt and Ryan of SuperMega are on board now and they're doing a good job editing. I love the improvisations they do with Deadly Premonition. It actually helps make the series more enjoyable!

Going through this creepy quiet place, I'm glad to have Arin and Danny for company. They do the "axe you a question" joke with the axe wielding zombies and the zombies then do a funny pick up line. Great fun :)
I love The Shining and other Kubrick movies too. Jack Nicholson's performance is great and actually makes me laugh at some points.

6969 - NSP, MY REVIEW!

Ninja Brian is happily meditating in his room when Danny Sexbang casually walks in and invites him to try out his awesome time machine space ship. They'll have to come back to the part before they wreck the house while going into orbit!
Arin's the narrator and plays as the evil dictator of the sexless future.
This spaceship in orbit is awesome! Flying around and the music it reminds me of Galaxy High. Ninja Brian's dressed a lot like Kick-Ass and Danny's dancing and slipping around hilariously on his "Space Lube" :)
Absolutely love the Holo-Deck where Danny's frolicking around with girls and velcro underpants until Ninja Brian switches it off into the cool grid effect thing. Some fantastic detail here, like the "BooberTime" instead of BurgerTime arcade cabinet.
So yeah after some sexy trekking, they travel to the year 6969 where everyone gets laid and there's sure to be unicorns, delicious desserts and orgies everywhere! But then, Oh no! It's a dystopian sexless future where human touch is outlawed!
"Without the thrill of boning, what is life?" our heroes ask themselves. A very real question we can all ask ourselves in real life too.
They go to the Council Of Dick Elders to speak up about this problem but then it all goes horribly wrong when it's revealed they're behind this evil sexless future! They're played by Arin, Kevin, Barry and Ross. Danny and Ninja Brian flee to their space ship time machine and "get ready for a sexy fight!" with Danny's "Sparkle Of Hope!".
Danny's space suit reminds me a bit of Samus Aran's Zero Suit. I like the evil council's spiky shoulder pads too!
NSP locate a hot girl and Danny beams down in his super NSP costume and cape and gets ready to save her and the Earth from a sexless loveless future! The girl is rescued along with her friends because Danny's the hero that's why! I like the stunt dummy Danny that had to be used. It's a very dangerous job after all, taking on and liberating thousands of years of sexual repression!
Markiplier appears as a news reporter reporting on this end of the world orgy that is now spreading. Maybe we can write an essay on how this is a metaphor for YouTube bringing in all rules and stuff? Media trying to control the masses? Could be something there :)
The unconvinced evil council then strike back and exciting battling follows. Though brief, because Ninja Brian makes short work of every single one of them!
The new world becomes beautiful, with dreamy starry pink skies, flowers everywhere and everyone is happy and dancing! Their job done, Danny entrusts the future to the hot girl he saved before leaving for his own time. Very Chrono Trigger-esque story where they travel to the future to save it!
As they leave, a giant pile of dominoes in the pattern of the year 6969 are tumbled. The future is saved and our heroes go home!
So yeah, who wouldn't love this Chrono Trigger-like story about awesome dudes having fun flying through space, time travelling and frolicking in the Holo-Deck and end up having to save the sexy future of the world? Reminds me of the storytelling nature of Tenacious D's "City Hall" where "we will all travel in tubes!".
About the credits, I haven't blog labels made for everyone unfortunately but they all did a great job together.

By the way, this stage is so cool. The premonitions appear in closed off boxes and give clues on how to beat the level. Great idea and a lovely tribute to Shulk's Monado ability!

I was saying how Suzy and Arin kicked off the Halloween season early with Minds Eyes today, but this series has been going on since August! I guess I think of this more as a weird detective mystery type of thing than as a Halloween thing, but it's still appropriate. Halloween's about having a laugh at weird stuff too.
One of the nice guys of SuperMega gives a message about the game audio before this episode. Also, I never noticed in the thumbnail how the main character has duct tape over his mouth! Took me long enough to notice!
Arin and Danny go into another driving sequence road trip in stormy weather with raindrop effects on the windscreen.
I guess "unsub" would be a scary killer to a YouTuber.
Ahh... Danny says this is what it's like to be driving with him and Arin through the rain. I like this idea as a simulator :), trying to stop for dandelions and stuff. It is funny too with the crashing around while the characters are having a serious conversation.
The other characters aren't allowed inside the building by the main character and they have this conversation out in the rain. What is with these characters and their love of standing out in the rain? Couldn't they talk inside the car?
The red cobwebs and zombies are back. Lots of bang bang bang with the gun too. Nice of them to put springy sound effects at one point. Bit of variety :)

Suzy has Arin along to play this scary game. I was wondering when Suzy was going to start Halloween themed stuff! I remember last year she started things early as well and I really liked that. Halloween was when I started blogging about the Game Grumps so it's special for me too!
Suzy talks about jump scares in modern horror movies. It can be very annoying alright and it has been described as "cattle prod cinema".
Omg that child's laugh when they pick up the bear was startling :O
Arrgh that having to light matches all the time makes things so uncomfortable. Those paintings are creepy too, especially the one with the face. They strike fear into you, yet they're just paintings.
The lights come on and things are no less creepy. They're struggling to find stuff to do, which happens a lot in scary games and makes them even more difficult to stomach.
I'll say it... there's one big jump scare at the end of the video and yes it made me jump along with them! They continue the commentary and continue trying to scrape around to find stuff to do. You can tell their commentary is just a way of helping them cope with the game at this point! From my point of view, typing while watching helped me to cope with the game as well!

It starts as a pregnant woman going to sit down at the beach and Ross gets bored so he has to have Godzilla and King King fighting edited in to the background lol :) Ross makes some funny edit requests during the episode!
Next thing it's this crazy otherworldly mysterious sci-fi setting that's a bit like an early 90s early cgi music video.
Those ripples as a PS2 tech demo? Psh... how about a Super Monkey Ball bonus stage, running on a GameCube! Now we're talkin' :)

GRUMP'S DREAM COURSE PART 6 - CONVEYOR BELTS AND SCARY WHALES

I just had to bring this up. I know it's a video of a sound test screen but I'll say it's audio anyway.
This is one of the original tracks that appear in this lovingly made hack of Kirby's Dream Course. It's the scorecard bgm that Arin and Danny always stop to listen to in their playthrough. It's adapted from Luigi's Ballad by Starbomb and it sounds so good as SNES music! It's by this YouTuber TheGiik and it's well worth listening to! Check it out!

I love the theme of this level. It's Yoghurt Yard, one of my favourite Kirby tracks!
The next stage is a vast plain and has lots of bumps all over it. Is this a comment on Dan's... ah... never mind :)

Arin and Danny eventually both make it off the teeing point. Danny has a slow start but catches up super quickly!
They both fall asleep next to each other and dream of Suzy like it's some crazy psychic thing.

ZERO G ARENA - RAG DOLL SHOOTER

Ross and Chris play this third person arena shooter with minimalist graphics and an interesting gravity mechanic.
It's pretty cool the way you can use the gun to propel you in the other direction. It reminds me of Cave Story.
Ross does this funny thing to evade his opponent's fire by leaping around walls and floors like a freak :)
lol dubstep gun. Makes a dubstep sound when you shoot it. Lots of different interesting weapons here.
That moment where they try to chat but end up messing up the window is pretty funny!

There's one room with buildings and their opponent is skinned out as Spider-Man, which is pretty funny. They all do webslinging around the buildings :) thwip thwip! They meet their match here and they all do the crazy flying ragdoll stunts through the air.
I'd say it would be kinda barfy in first person... It wouldn't be as funny anyway without seeing your character flail around.

Arin and Danny are still stuck on the scorecard screen humming along with the awesome BGM tribute to one of their Starbomb songs. Dan's "Wood" course is there as well as a reference to the classic 7asses joke.
