No you didn't need to go to McDonald's to buy this game back in the day. There were a few of these games in regular game stores back then. I remember Global Gladiators for the Mega Drive on those Quinnsworth Lifestyle shelves.
The game they're trying to remember is Sesame Street Countdown!
